New project/updates/mangchi

Just  wanted to share and update a few things that have been going on.We've been working on new Mangchi material. Can't really give out any release dates, cause we're still sorting things out.I've also been working on new solo material.I wanted to do a project, where I used limited samples,so I could express bass lines and melodies that were in my head.I also thought it would be cool to illustrate each song with a drawing.I'm like 4 songs into it.I might just release it on this site,or maybe iTunes/other digital outlets.I haven't decided yet.I wanted to thank anyone who bought Quangou(steebee weebee),or anything I've ever put out.I try to write honest shit, and stay true to what I think is good.Going back to the Mangchi material.I wanted people to know that it's a collaborative process, in which, artistically, sometimes I have to compromise. So the Mangchi stuff is going to sound way different than my solo stuff.(vice versa)I also wanted to release my old crew-Noblehops-album we recorded in early 2000's.I'm just gonna give it to you guys on this site, for free. Thanks again for checking this site, and supporting my music.I know I'm blessed, and making art/music is an outlet for me to stay somewhat sane.

How the music got made/Influences

I do all my production on a BOSS sp-303 sampler.Ever since I bought my first sampler in college,I got used to working with 8 buttons.I was really influenced with early 90's rap, like Digable planets, and De la soul.I liked how they used jazz samples, and how they integrated it with drum beats. The one album that comes to mind is a Tribe called quest's-Low end theory. That album still holds up to me-even today.I wanted to make beats that way ,because it gave me a certain type of feeling. That's why I think I've just stuck with using samplers, cause I could actually touch, and feel, the process.I would then "dump" the beat into some kind of digital recorder. As far as the vocals,I always use some kind of effect on my voice.I don't like how my voice sounds in it's normal state.I also was influenced with how the Beastie Boys would use "distorted" effects on some of their songs. They did a lot of that on-Check your head.As far as influences,I'm mostly influenced by other genres of music, outside of rap.One of my favorite albums is Modest Mouse's-Lonesome Crowded West.I just love the vibe of that whole album. It has that western/American feel-that makes you wanna see the country. If I could play the guitar and sing like that,I would. The Beach Boys(Pet sounds),is another one,but more so,one particular song.God only Knows, has to be one of the best songs ever recorded.I never get sick of hearing that song.I can go on and on,but didn't want to ramble.Buy one of my albums!!peace and blessings to all....
